Jackson County Fire District #4 Volunteer Support Group

Who are we?

  • We are a group of citizen volunteers of all ages dedicated to assisting our firefighters and community.
  • We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization to benefit the Jackson County Fire District #4.
  • At the direction of the Fire District, we reach out to the Fire District #4 citizens to promote fire safety in the home, promote defensible space around homes, build goodwill in the community, and provide community support.
  • There are no dues for Support Group members.

What do we do?

  • Raise funds to support our annual Children’s Christmas Party on behalf of the firefighters.
  • When called upon, we help clean and restock fire equipment and feed the firefighters on duty.
  • Help staff with the community fire prevention program, improving fire safety in and around homes, assist Staff with the smoke alarm installation program and develop understanding of fire safety principles with children and adults alike.
  • Make and distribute reflective address signs to improve identification of homes in the District, thus assisting firefighters to quickly locate the correct address.
  • We sell fundraising merchandise at local events to promote Fire District #4 pride.
  • We offer Support Group members a discounted group rate for Mercy Flights rescue membership.
  • Provide the community with important educational classes such as CPR & First Aid, Defensible Space, and the proper use of a Fire Extinguisher.

When do we meet?

  • The Support Group membership meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (generally for an hour) at the Edgewater Hotel Conference Room.
  • Our organization is led by membership-elected officers: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and three At-Large members.
