Civil Service Commission

The Jackson County Fire District 4 Civil Service Commission plays a vital role in ensuring fair, transparent, and merit-based employment practices within the District. This three-member body operates independently from the Board of Directors and District staff, with Commissioners serving uncompensated four-year terms. The Commission oversees the administration of entrance and promotional examinations, maintains eligibility registers, and helps ensure that appointments and promotions are based on demonstrated merit and fitness. Commissioners also collaborate with the Fire Chief and Board of Directors to uphold a fair classification system and maintain accountability in personnel processes.

We are currently seeking community-minded individuals who believe in the principles of civil service and are interested in contributing to the integrity and effectiveness of our fire district. Serving on the Commission provides a unique opportunity to support equal opportunity, strengthen public trust, and help guide the District’s hiring and promotional standards. If you are committed to fairness, integrity, and public service, we encourage you to review the Civil Service Rules and complete the application form provided.
