Jackson County Fire District #4 Volunteer Support Group

Who are we?

  • We are a group of citizen volunteers of all ages dedicated to assisting our firefighters in having a safer work environment.
  • We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization to benefit Fire District #4 (the Support Group has no dues for members).
  • At the direction of the Fire District we reach out to the citizens to promote fire safety in the home, promote defensible space around homes, and build goodwill in the community.

What do we do?

  • Raise funds for Fire District #4 for equipment and supplies not afforded under the tax base for the District.
  • Offer a Children’s Christmas Party on behalf of the firefighters to promote goodwill.
  • When called upon, we help clean and restock equipment and feed the firefighters on duty.
  • Help staff the fire prevention program of Fire District #4, improving fire safety in and around homes, assist Staff fin the smoke alarm installation program and develop understanding of fire safety principles with children and adults alike.
  • Make and distribute reflective address signs to improve identification of homes in the District assisting firefighters to quickly locate the correct address needing help.
  • Host the annual Yard Sale and the Shady Cove Wildflower Show as major fundraisers for Fire District #4.
  • We sell fundraising merchandise online and at local events to promote Fire District pride.
  • We offer Support Group members a discounted group rate for Mercy Flights rescue membership.

When do we meet?

  • The Support Group membership meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (generally for an hour) at the Edgewater Hotel Conference Room.
  • Our organization is led by membership-elected officers: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and three At-Large members.
